Is Five-Star RB Zachary Evans headed to Knoxville this weekend for an official visit?

The Vols may be in for big news this weekend as it appears, at this time, five-star Zachary Evans is planning to take an official visit to Tennessee. Tennessee sent Brian Niedermeyer to Houston earlier in the weekend to check in on the elite North Shore prospect, giving the Vols a glimmer of hope with their heavy-hitter leading the charge.

Today, VR2 was informed by a member of Evans's camp that the belief Is he will visit Knoxville this weekend on an official visit. With several other schools staying in touch, Evans could show up at any place this weekend and be welcomed with open arms.

Evans previously signed a letter of intent to Georgia, during the early signing period, however, he was released from his NLI shortly after. This complicated his recruitment, even more, considering that he will not be able to sign another letter of intent, meaning he will have to enroll and show up at campus this summer before things are officially done.

There have been concerns in regards to Evans’s off-field issues, but he went on the record during the Under Armour Game, with Deion Sanders to address that he made a mistake, and his plan to show coaches he was moving past them.

We will keep tracking this throughout the next couple of days to see if anything changes, but it is a good sign for the Vols on a Thursday evening that Evans appears to be leaning towards Knoxville for the weekend. Evans is coming off of an official visit to Ole Miss this weekend, and he has two more trips that he can use to finish out his five allotted official visits.

Evans is rated as the 11th overall prospect in America and the number 1 running back, according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.
