2021 Vols kicking commit J.T. Carver talks Vols special teams, relationships with Wilhoit and Simpson and what’s next at Tennessee

2021 Tennessee kicker commit J.T. Carver has worked with former Vols kicker James Wilhoit for three years. Hear what he had to say on that relationship, teammate Ty Simpson, Vols special teams, and more.

2021 Tennessee kicker commit J.T. Carver sent ball after ball sailing into a brisk west Tennessee sky on Friday night.

He did this alone on the field two hours before kickoff, dressed in blue Westview shorts and a black Kohl’s All-American hoodie.

Later, he sent more moon shots in his white away uniform, sans helmet.

And, to no one’s surprise, Carver did the exact same thing between the white lines.

But to be all alone, putting foot to leather in 45 degrees? That takes something different.

After the final game of his senior season, Carver discussed his self-motivation, as well as his relationship with kicking coach and former Vol kicker James Wilhoit.

Carver also mentioned his relationship with teammate Ty Simpson and how the two have grown up together, as well as what he expects in Neyland Stadium next year.
