Just in: Five-Star tackle to no longer visit Vols

Five-star offensive tackle Broderick Jones elected to not sign with Georgia during the early signing period and continued to explore his options. Jones went on record with multiple reporters and said that it was a 50-50 battle for his services between Auburn and Georgia.

However, reports serviced during the Under Armour All-American game that Jones would take an official visit to Tennessee during January to take a closer look at the Vols.

Jones informed 247 Sports Keith Niehbur of this during the week long event, but those plans have changed since.

Lithonia (GA) Head Coach Marcus Jelks informed VR2’s Matt Ray that Jones was no longer taking his previously scheduled visit to Tennessee.

With the addition of Cade Mays it is no surprise that Jones would want to focus on Auburn and Georgia. His recruitment has became increasingly complicated with the departure of Sam Pittman from Georgia and J.B. Grimes stepping down from Auburn. Jones has a clearer path to playing time at each school and previously established relationships with coaches on each staff.

It’s unlikely that the Vols pursue another offensive lineman in this class as they will likely focus on Jay Hardy and Dee Beckwith to end the cycle and pursue another transfer.
