Recap: VFL's performance in the pros

In this week's edition of Vols In The Pros, performances of a few players who we did not touch on last week will certainly be highlighted. Grinding it out and staying the course has been a constant theme in the careers of a lot of one-time volunteer players in the League. Jeremy Pruitt and his staff did not have one single player drafted in this past year's NFL draft hosted in Nashville. However, two players that were apart of Pruitt's first season campaign are adding significant value in the trenches to NFL squads. That is discussed more in-depth below! Kyle PhillipsKyle Phillips has been a bright spot for the Jets defense as the NFL calendar begins to wind down. Sunday New York shutdown the Jon Gruden led Raiders with a convincing 34-3 Win inside MetLife Stadium and Mr. Phillips undeniably played a big role. Kyle Phillips was able to come away with 3 tackles in the matchup while also recording a 0.5 tackle for loss. Consistency has been huge for the defensive lineman in his rookie season, Phillips hasn't put up the gaudiest numbers, but he has produced week in and week out. Emmanuel MoseleySpeaking of another Vol who contributed in a massive win yesterday was Emmanuel Moseley, the 49ers absolutely took it to the packers by notching a 37-8 win. Mosley once again locked in a solid outing as he finished with 5 tackles and was able to limit Green Bay's passing attack. San Francisco now stands at 10-1 and looks like they might just be the best team in the NFL considering how dominant they have been. Alvin KamaraThe do-it-all running back showed off his skill set in both the running game and passing game as he has throughout most of his career. At Tennessee, Kamara displayed his versatility, and fans called for more touches for him once it was evident what he was capable of. The All-Pro running back again showed his versatility yesterday tallying 54 yards on the ground while also catching 9 balls for another 48 yards. Alvin Kamara and the Saints improved to 9-2 on the season in a nail biter over the Panthers. Shy TuttleSpeaking of the Saints, one of Alvin Kamara's teammates also played a vital part in the Saint's victory over the Panthers. Tuttle played with Kamara at Tennessee as a junior and sophomore from 2015-2016, Tuttle, unfortunately, had both seasons cut short due to injury. With that said, Shy has stayed healthy this year in New Orleans and added quality depth to their defensive line group. He registered 3 tackles yesterday and also got a hit on Carolina Panthers QB Kyle Allen. AJ JohnsonAJ Johnson had an absolute monster game yesterday in Buffalo against the Bills. Johnson, who is a couple of years removed from football led the Broncos in tackles with 15 total which happens to be a season-high for him. AJ looks to be fitting in seamlessly to Vic Fangio's defense, Denver did fall to 3-8 on the year as they have now lost back to back games. Johnson is no stranger to turning in some eye-popping numbers and it probably does not surprise Tennessee fans quite honestly.
