Tennessee hosted highly a sought after three-star cornerback, Devonta Smith, of La Salle (OH) for the final Junior Day before the month-long dead period. Smith, a prospect who holds offers from over 20 Division 1 schools, breaks down the visit here.

Smith said on the visit, "what stood out to me is that the staff and coaches are great people. They were being honest 100% while I was there and they made me feel like family. I love Knoxville, and I know for sure their program is heading in the right direction."

The family atmosphere made a big impression on Smith this weekend. He said, "what appealed to me is how much they treat you like family like they bring you in and make you feel so comfortable you don’t want to leave."

Smith said about the Tennessee coaches, "my relationship with the coaches is strong, and I built on that by asking them questions I had in my head for a long time also just the little things playing around, laughing, and having a good time eating"

Smith is hearing from multiple top tier schools and said, "the schools I’m hearing from the most are Tennesse, Oklahoma, Penn State, Notre Dame, and Ohio State. They see me playing corner, but as my body is filling out, I could play anywhere in the secondary.

Smith is not sure when a decision will be made, but he knows the factors that will go into that decision. He said, "the major factors are Coach's stability, family environment, the defensive packages, being around the team, seeing how coaches coach, and lastly, if my mom loves it."

Smith is rated as the 396th overall prospect in the nation, No. 28 CB, and No. 14 prospect from Ohio for the 2021 class, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
