3-Star edge rusher from Georgia powerhouse breaks down Tennessee visit.

Over the weekend, Tennessee got a head start on their 2021 class and hosted a plethora of athletes from all across the southeast. One of the prospects was 3-Star weak side defensive end Noah Collins from state powerhouse Grayson in Loganville, Georgia. This is a school that the coaching staff is very familiar with, as it’s the same school that gave the Vols Wanya Morris and technically Deangelo Gibbs but he was a transfer from Georgia. VR2’s Matt Ray recently caught up with Collins for an interview to break down the visit and the pitch from the coaches.

When asked about what stood out from this visit, Collins stated “the coaching staff, because they are genuine and tell you like it is.” This isn’t the first answer we’ve got from recruits when they talk about the coaches at Tennessee, and certainly won’t be the last as the honesty and genuineness they show top targets has brought them success on the recruiting trail to this point. When asked about the message from the coaches and the position they’re recruiting him as, Collins says “if I were to go to Tennessee, they would want me to play outside linebacker.” This is something that will likely help Tennessee down the line as they are looking for help in the pass rush department, and Collins may see a ton of playing time as a freshman. With Collins already playing against top talent every week in Georgia 7A, the adjustment to the next level at outside linebacker wouldn’t be a very long process to get on the field.

As far as his recruitment is concerned Collins has visits lined up to Georgia Tech and Florida, then says that he’ll “possibly” visit Notre Dame and Nebraska, after these visits, he’ll plan to make a decision on a commitment early. “I plan to make a final decision after I’m done taking my unofficials and around the time when spring ball starts back up” Collins said when asked about when he’ll makes a decision on which university he’ll attend. So unless something gets pushed back, it looks like Tennessee’s coaches will likely have to turn the heat up on Collins over the next couple of months since he’s planning to commit early. If they prioritize him and land a commitment, Tennessee would be getting a solid pass rusher that is already used to high level competition, and getting him early to where he could potentially help peer recruit other prospects to Knoxville over the next several months leading up to signing day.
