The Texas quarterback room is looking extremely bright for years to come, and their next great quarterback may not even be on the roster yet.

The Longhorns already have former perfectly rated signal caller Quinn Ewers who is one of the top returning quarterbacks in the country in 2024. Behind him is former five-star Arch Manning, who also hails from the most iconic quarterback family in the history of football. Their 2024 class featured four-star Trey Owens who is highly-touted in his own right, and right behind him in 2025 is another talented quarterback in KJ Lacey.

The Alabama product is already standing out ahead of his senior year, earning his invitation to the Elite 11 on Sunday.

After a strong showing at the regional in Austin, the Elite 11 page revealed that he would be among the finalists for the event.

According to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings, Lacey ranks as the No. 79 player, No. 7 quarterback, and No. 8 player in the state of Alabama. The 6-foot-0 gunslinger, pledged to Texas back in June, choosing the Longhorns over an offer sheet of over 30 programs. A few of the more notable programs he chose Texas over were schools such as Auburn, Colorado, Alabama, Miami, and Oklahoma.

This past season he led Saraland High School to a 14-1 record, which was good enough to finish as runner-up in the state. He ended up throwing for 3,448 yards, completing 69% of his passes, with 42 touchdowns to just eight picks, and also rushed for five scores.
