Just wondering while the world of college football gets crazier by the minute.

One of the primary reasons why Texas A&M chose to fire football coach Jimbo Fisher was a feeling that the Aggies were just not relevant (true) in the upper tier of FBS football.

Another reason was the feeling, as expressed by Aggie athletic director Ross Bjork, that the Aggies were stuck in neutral.  "I like to drive fast,'' said Bjork, at a press conference on Sunday following the dismissal of Fisher. ""But it was like we were in the fast lane (left) going 55 miles an hour.""

True again.

Which is exactly why Texas A&M can not just select a good football coach. The Aggies need a "force of nature''  a personality that will create news with almost every move he makes.

The most obvious choice would be Urban Meyer who has NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP rings from Florida and Ohio  State.

Meyer says he is done coaching--we will see about that-- and that he is happy getting paid $7 million a year from  Fox analyzing what his formula coaching brethren do each week.

And maybe the game has changed too much for Meyer to be comfortable.

Which leaves only one candidate who can coach and stir the pot.

That would be Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin.  Kiffin has coached and won in the NFL (Oakland), the Pac-12 (USC), the SEC (Ole Miss, Tennessee and as a coordinator in a coaching rehab program thanks to Nick Saban at Alabama).

If Kiffin arrives in College Station in the next few weeks, everyone in the SEC will be aware of his presence and he will be at the Disneyland for coaches ,where he will almost never hear the word "NO'' to any request, with all top of the line amenities.

Let's see what happens. But if Texas A&M wants to be relevant in the SEC and in the Southwest--Texas and Oklahoma are moving into the SEC next season--their next coach should be Urban Meyer or Lane Kiffin.

Now that Jimbo Fisher can relax with his mega million dollar buyout he should think about his next coaching job--if he wants to do that, of course.

He needs to be at a place where his salary is a foot note, where he can coach and compete and win at an FBS level and have some fun in a place where he can also enjoy life away from the grid iron

We've got the perfect place.

San Diego State, a solid program in the Mountain West Conference, is looking  for a new coach now that Brady Hoke has announced his retirement.

Jimbo in San Diego would be a perfect fit and he can certainly afford the housing, even with California's off the chart listings.

We said it before and we will say it again. Nick Saban is the G.O..A.T. of college coaching for a reason. This year's version of the Tide may be the least talented Saban has had. But don't be surprised if Alabama is one of the Final Four teams and if they get that far it would be fools' gold to bet against them.

The Jim Harbaugh-Michigan -Big  Ten situation continues to unravel and spin in strange cycles.

We've almost had enough but one fact was disturbing if it was true.

Harbaugh and Michigan athletic director said this week that they learned that Harbaugh had been suspended for three games by the Big Ten via social media after the Michigan plane landed in State College on Friday as the Wolverines prepared tor their meeting with Penn State.

How is that possible?

Once Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti made a decision his FIRST move should have been to inform everyone involved at Michigan and being on a plane is no excuse for no communication.

Yet, it leaked to the media.

That's inexcusable.

You don't tell ANYONE they have been convicted of a crime BEFORE you tell the accused.
