Tulane's Energetic Scrimmage Brings Looming QB Announcement

The energy was as high as the heat this morning as TU began their final preparations for the 2026 season.
After spending the last practice at the Saints facility, Tulane saw a much more streamlined practice that was really a glorified scrimmage.
Not Quite...
What we saw out of the team today was a struggling red zone offense, or a strong redzone defense... or both.
With QBs Kadin Semonza and Zeon Chriss-Gremillion taking the majority of the first team snaps, neither could break that barrier of the endzone, both of whom settled for field goals at best.
The run defense was no joke, as we continue to say, this defense plays with a ton of energy, and we wouldn't be surprised if the Wave ended up as one of the top defenses in the American this year.

A lot of runs and safe throws kept the turnovers to a minimum, aside any dropped snap or the 50/50 ball that was intercepted (intended for Gabe Daniels from Zeon; intercepted by Chase Green).
Overall, we saw a well disciplined team that continues to see improved line play (on both sides, especially offensively). This team will still need to find that identity, so they can really get comfortable in this new Hall Ball system.
Getting Comfortable
With just two weeks remaining before Tulane travels to Duke, the Wave still seeks answers to pivotal questions.
One of which, of course, regards the quarterback position. And to that we have an answer, or at least a hint.

Head coach Will Hall made it clear during today's presser that a starting QB would be announced Monday. He declared himself a "man of his word," and we're eager to see him keep it and make his decision this Monday.
Regardless of that decision, both of the candidates have expressed their desire for the team's best interest.
"The bond that we (the quarterbacks) have is so special in the QB room... we really push each other each and every day." Zeon began. "Sometimes you'd think that we (the QBs) want the other person to succeed more than (ourselves)."

That sentiment was further cemented by the other QB who took the most reps today, Kadin Semonza.
"In our room (the QB room), he (Zeon) really means that, and I mean that too," Kadin reassured. "We've got a great relationship, not just me and (Zeon), but the whole quarterback room."
Both guys agreed that they left everything on the field, and that they're satisfied with letting coach Hall handle the rest.
Hall Praise
During coach Hall's opening press conference after practice, he had endless praise for his 'kids' (players), recalling how much they've really come into form over Spring and Fall practices.
One of whom made plays aplenty today: Chase Green. Whether it's landing hits or being a ballhawk, Green flies all over the field, and he's looking to contribute to what is already a deep secondary.

"Chase (Green) is a guy that really made a jump this Spring... his intentionality with how he's approached tackling... he's really bought into (it)," Hall said.
When he moved to the offensive side of things after being asked about Semonza's confidence and growth, he said: "He's been confident all Fall... I've been pleased with how he's ran the ball and how he's scrambled and kept plays alive (while) keeping his eyes downfield, but he was on top of it today."
When asked about Zeon, coach Hall responded, "I thought he had a good day, the (interception) was not his fault... but both of them (Zeon and Semonza) have had great Fall camps."
