Andrew Harris to UCF!

Knights regain the commitment of linebacker Andrew Harris from Lake Brantley High School.

So much for a basic National Signing Day for the UCF Knights. One that was more about the Transfer Portal, or so it was originally believed.

Committed to UCF, decommitted from UCF, and now signed with UCF.

Welcome to the crazy world of college football recruiting. For Gus Malzahn his Knights, gaining middle linebacker Andrew Harris was a huge addition to the 2023 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-1 and 205-pound linebacker played for Altamonte Springs (Fla.) Lake Brantley. He had offers from across the country, and this past season he was one of the most productive defensive players in the land regardless of state.

His sheer speed alone was enough to draw interest from college football coaches. Having the major hitting power that Harris possessed, that was also a big reason he earned numerous offers from programs in the ACC, Big 10, SEC and beyond.

For some, this writer included, it was not a surprising ending for Andrew (more on his brother in a moment).

Having communicated with the future inside linebacker, it was obvious that he was quite interested in coming back around to UCF afterall.

The Knights needed linebackers, too. Harris will certainly have a shot to earn early playing time.

As for his brother making the decision to sign with the University of Maryland, that's quite surprising. The twins were all but impossible to keep away from one another. Yet, they signed with different institutions.

That's unusual, but again, that's recruiting in today's world.

Congrats to Andrew, as well as his brother Michael, and good luck to each of them during their college journeys.
