KINGSTON, R.I. – The UConn men's track & field team sent select athletes to compete at the Sorlien Invitational at the University of Rhode Island on Saturday afternoon.

Saturday's event was an unscored meet and featured athletes from host URI, AIC, Boston College, Bryant, Northeastern, Massachusetts, UMass-Lowell, and Stonehill.

UConn junior Travis Snyder (Saco, Maine), who entered the national rankings in the pole vault and heptathlon last weekend, picked-up a win in the pole vault, on Saturday leading a trio of Huskies in the event who took the top-three spots.

UConn's 4x400 relay team also picked-up a victory on Saturday.

"For the men, the highlights today were the one-two punch in the pole vault with Travis and Tyler and on the track, Terrel Williams in the hurdles," stated Director of cross country and track & field Greg Roy.

"This meet capped the end of a very tough training cycle for both programs where double sessions were part of our routine before classes. We are now focused on the midseason part of the schedule as we head to Boston next week."

On the track…

• Freshman Terrel Williams (Maplewood, N.J.) was second in the 60 meter hurdles at 7.99 seconds his first time running the event. Junior Xavier Smith (West Windsor, N.J.) was fifth with a time of 8.32 seconds.

• Sophomore Stephen Sutton (Tolland, Conn.) took second in the 1000 meters, posting a new PR at 2:27.94, nearly five seconds off his previous best time.

• Junior Aaron Hackett (Upper Marlboro, Md.) ran fourth in the 400 meters posting a time of 51.35 seconds.

• Sophomore Joseph O'Brien (Shrewsbury, Mass.) ran the 500 meters and finished fifth with a time of 1:07.12, a new PR.

• Junior Markus Bagley (Jersey City, N.J.) posted a time of 1:58.20 to finish fourth in the 800 meters, his first time running the event. Classmate Noah Woodman (Hampstead, N.H.) was sixth, running the event for the first time since the 2019 outdoor season, finishing in 1:58.39.

• In the 4x400 relay, the foursome of Woodman, Bagley, Sutton and Wellington Ventura (Cresskill, N.J.) posted a winning time of 3:18.89.

In the field…

• UConn went 1-2-3 in the pole vault with junior Travis Snyder (Saco, Maine) leading the way with a winning height of 5.10 meters. Junior Travis Hrbek (Northvale, N.J.) was second at 5.00 meters and Patrick Oatman (Shrewsbury, Mass.) third at 4.50 meters.

• Senior Matthew Brady (Biddeford, Maine) was second in the shot put with a throw of 16.78 meters.

• Freshman Kasey Savage (Tolland, Conn.) finished third in the high jump with a height of 1.96 meters.

• Senior Christopher Keegan (West Hartford, Conn.) was third in the weight throw with a toss of 18.24 meters.
