WEST POINT, N.Y. - "I was pleased with our doubles play today, as we executed much better and came out with the doubles point," stated Director of Tennis Glenn Marshall. "Singles had four matches go three sets, and we split them with Isabel and Leonie winning. It was a tough match to lose, but we got a little better today and fought all the way to the end."

The UConn tandems of Aleksandra Karamyshev (Ashton, Md.) and Isabel Petri-Bere (Lund, Sweden) and Caroline Cook (Naples, Fla.) and Denise Lai (Setauket, N.Y.) earned wins to secure the doubles point for the Huskies.

Karamyshev and Petri-Bere won 6-2 at No. 2 over Isabel Cabrerizo and Renta Lombera while Cook and Lai were 6-3 winners over Cristina Corte Gonzalez and Tara Veluvolu at No. 3.

In singles play, Petri-Bere battled back from losing the first set to Mya Fuentes, 7-6 (6), to win in three sets, 6-2 and 6-4. Leonie Hoppe (Munich, Germany) won at No. 2, 6-3, 3-6 and 2-0.

At No. 1 Julieanne Bou (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) lost a tough three-set battle with Lemongo, 3-6, 7-5, 5-7.

The Huskies are in action on Sunday morning when they play host to Rutgers at the Magic Lincer Tennis Club at 10:30 am.
