"We played tough today against a strong BIG TEN team in Rutgers," stated Director of Tennis Glenn Marshall. "In doubles we started slow on a few courts, and that was tough to overcome. We need to do a better job of starting the doubles matches with energy and focus."

"In singles, we played much better and gave ourselves opportunities on almost every court," commented Marshall. "Julieanne and Aleksandra went 3 sets, and three other matches were very close in each of their sets. We fought hard all the way but need to break through on some of the crucial points to finish out sets and matches. Overall, I was pleased with the fight and effort, and playing tough matches early in the season will make us stronger down the road."

At No. 1 singles, senior Julieanne Bou (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) won the first set with Jackeline Lopez, 7-6 (4) but dropped the second 6-4 and lost a tough battle in the tiebreaker set, 11-9. Sophomore Aleksandra Karamyshev (Ashton, Md.) lost a three-set battle with Sydney Kaplan, 3-6, 6-4 and 10-8.

The Huskies are back in action on Friday, February 18 when they host Stony Brook in Manchester.
