STORRS, Conn. - UConn junior Travis Snyder (Saco, Maine) was named the BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week in the first round of league awards for the 2022 indoor season.

Snyder is off to a strong start to his season after opening at the Harvard Beantown Challenge by claiming gold in his first collegiate heptathlon with a score of 5,192. The score ranks first in the BIG EAST and 19th nationally. The Saco, Maine, native shined in the pole vault, reaching a BIG EAST leading height of 5.30 m (17' 4.5"), the 15th highest jump in the nation. Snyder then followed that meet up by winning the pole vault at the URI Invitational (5.10 meters).

Snyder and the Huskies are back in action this weekend at both the Great Dane Classic and back at BU for the John Thomas Terrier Classic.
