WLAX: Watson Picked Big East Midfielder Of The Week
NEW YORK - For the fourth time this season, senior Sydney Watson of the UConn women's lacrosse team has been selected as the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Watson continued her stellar season with nine points, 27 draw controls, two ground balls and one caused turnover as the Huskies went 2-0 over the week. The senior made history on Wednesday against Columbia, breaking her own single-game draw control record with 19 wins, and added in three goals and one assist. She followed with four more goals, another assist and eight draw controls in UConn's BIG EAST opener vs. Marquette on Saturday.
With the wins, the Huskies set a new program record with nine straight wins, and cracked the top-20 in the national polls this week for the first time since 2013.
