KINGSTON, R.I. – UConn women's track & field team headed to the University of Rhode Island on Saturday for the Sorlien Memorial Invitational.

The Huskies competed in the non-scored meet with athletes from host URI and AIC, Boston College, Bryant, Holy Cross, Northeastern, Massachusetts, UMass-Lowell, Quinnipiac, and Stonehill.

UConn freshman Danielle Phillip (Valley Stream, N.Y.) earned a victory in the 60 meter dash while junior Emma Chee (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) was a winner in the pole vault for the second-straight week.

In the weight throw, junior Mikyla Rodgers (South Huntington, N.Y.) earned her second career victory.

"With limited entries today, we were very happy with the results we saw," stated Director of cross country and track & field Greg Roy. "In a non-scoring meet with some of our athletes in off events, I thought we still got better and continued to advance toward our season goals. Great to see our captains Mikyla and Emma perform today and excited for Danielle Phillips to get her first win as a collegian."

"This meet capped the end of a very tough training cycle for both programs where double sessions were part of our routine before classes. We are now focused on the midseason part of the schedule as we head to Boston next week."
