Incoming USC freshman shooting guard Bronny James incurred a sudden cardiac arrest while working out for the Trojans on Monday morning, a James family spokesperson has informed TMZ Sports.

Other sources inform TMZ that, at 9:26 AM Monday, a 911 call emanating from USC's Galen Center was made, and that the emergency was designated as a fairly severe Code 3 by attendant workers.

"Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest," the spokesperson informed TMZ. "Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU. We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information."

"[Bronny's parents] LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes,” the spokesperson added.

Not to be confused with a heart attack, a cardiac arrest transpires when a heart suddenly ceases beating, per the American Heart Association. A heart attack refers to an arterial blockage en route to the heart.

Bronny was a four-star recruit while at Chatsworth's Sierra Canyon School. His father LeBron is of course the legendary 19-time Los Angeles Lakers All-Star and four-time NBA champ.

James had been one of the headliners of USC's starry freshman class, along with top high school prospect Isaiah Collier, another guard. Their group had been ranked as the third-best batch of freshman in the nation, making them the highest-rated freshman class in the school's history.

Our thoughts are with the entire James family at this time. Here's hoping Bronny got the treatment he needed and will be able to resume his basketball career.
