No. 10 seed USC kicks off its 21st appearance in the NCAA Tournament against No. 7 seed Michigan State in the First Round Friday (March 17) on CBS.

USC (22-10) earned the No. 10 seed after falling to Arizona State in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Tournament but the Trojans have had some strong showings this year including wins against then No. 8 ranked UCLA and No. 22 Tennessee.
The Trojans are 17-21* all-time in the NCAA Tournament (one loss vacated due to NCAA penalty) and 5-4 under head coach Andy Enfield.
They lost in the first round to Miami as a No. 7 seed last season but got as far as the Elite Eight as a No. 6 seed in 2021.
Michigan State (19-12) finished fourth in the Big Ten and lost to Ohio State in the conference tournament quarterfinals but the Spartans had several big wins this season against teams that were ranked at the time of play including No. 4 Kentucky, No. 18 Wisconsin, No. 23 Rutgers and No. 17 Indiana.
The two teams are 3-3 all-time against each other in the NCAA Tournament. Michigan State was a No. 2 seed when they knocked off No. 10 seed USC 74-69 in the second round the last time the two met in the 2009 tournament.
The winner of this game will advance to the second round to take on the winner of the No. 2 seed Marquette vs. No. 15 seed Vermont matchup also being played on Friday.
