Boogie Ellis compiled an excellent season with your University of Southern California Trojans last season and it was great to see him take on more of a leadership role and own the point guard role on a squad that didn't go far in the March Madness Tournament but battled all year long. Many were surprised that after compiling his best statistical season by far that he didn't head on to the NBA but Ellis had a bigger vision in mind.

And even if the stats are not the same this coming season with some big roster changes, I think Ellis will be playing his best brand of basketball and will make sure he ends his college career on the best note possible. More and more, we're starting to see NBA front offices select guys with a couple of years under their belt versus before where they would be much more inclined to select only freshman. Ellis will finish off polishing his skills with the Trojans and also look to take two of the nations best, young guards under his wing.

Both Isaiah Collier and Bronny James will make his life easier and they'll all be able to bounce knowledge off of each other while sharing the ball.

And when looking at why Ellis will excel with both of these top recruits, I think it's important that we look back to why he improved during this most recent year at USC in the first place as revealed by head coach Andy Enfield.

“Boogie’s matured. He’s very focused. He’s a great leader, he’s really good with his teammates,” Enfield said. “He’s a totally different player and person than he was last year when he first got here.”

He returned knowing the possibility that some elite guards would be joining him and he was more than happy to do so. This season will be a very special one!
