The USC women's basketball team is in the midst of one of the more successful seasons in program history, and it wouldn't be possible without the player of freshman guard JuJu Watkins. Watkins has taken the college basketball world by storm and has put the team on her back all year long.

Through 25 games, Watkins has averaged 28.2 points, seven rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. She is also shooting 41.6% from the field in impressive fashion.

Her play has earned her more national spotlight and recognition from many. This includes being named to the USBWA National Player of the Year Watchlist.

Watkins has led the charge for the Trojans, as they sit ranked seventh overall in the nation. Her play has pushed this team toward title contention and they will have a very tough outcome at NCAA Tournament time.

The Trojans will make the round of 64, and if they can put together a few solid weeks, they could etch their names in the history books. Watkins has shown a unique ability to put up incredible numbers every game, and she has yet to be slowed down.

If she can keep up her strong play, she will have a strong chance to win this award. But more importantly for her, give her team a chance to win the program's third title.
