This past week Utah released their depth chart for their Week 1 matchup against Florida, and while most people were focused on who was listed as the starting quarterback, it is the starting left tackle that has caught the attention of others.

2023 four-star recruit and No. 42 overall recruit in the country, Spencer Fano was listed as the starter to block on the blindside. As detailed by 247Sports, head coach Kyle Whittingham was asked about what stands out about Fano and the head coach raved about his skillset for his young age.

"Such an athlete, light on his feet, 300 pounds 6'5-plus, athletic, competitor, great football IQ and way mature beyond his years..."

He also went as far to say that Fano reminds him of former Utah star Jordan Gross.

"He reminds me of -this is not a comparison- but Jordan Gross, when he came in here as a freshman. Some of you probably don't even remember who Jordan was but he was tremendous and Spencer is in that same category."

Gross as accomplished as they come, starting a handful of years at Utah and being named as a consensus All-American in 2002. He was able to not only parlay that into being drafted into the NFL, but taken with the No. 8 overall pick in the first round of the 2003 NFL draft.

As for Fano, this Thursday will be his first collegiate game as the Utes are set to host Florida who got the best of them last season.
