Utah Football NIL Deal Gives Every Scholarship Play a Car

The Utah Utes and a NIL group called The Crimson Collective are presenting all 85 scholarship players a brand new Dodge Ram truck.

It was announced earlier today that the University of Utah football team would be receiving new Dodge Ram 1500 Big Horn trucks.

All 85 scholarship players for the Utah Utes will be getting brand-new 2023 Ram trucks as part of one of the most uncommon NIL deals to ever take place. In a Yahoo article, Ross Dellenger dove into the details of this NIL Utah collaboration and how it all works.

“The Crimson Collective, the NIL group supporting Utah athletics, is presenting a truck to each one of the 85 scholarship members of the football team. The history-making deal is estimated to be in the seven figures. Each truck’s retail price is $61,000. Funded by collective donations, the trucks will be leased to each player as part of individual six-month contracts that are expected to roll over contingent on a player’s eligibility and enrollment at the university. Leases end when a player’s eligibility expires or they choose to transfer. The collective will also cover the insurance for each truck.”

This is a very unorthodox approach to go about NIL but The Crimson Collective is optimistic this deal will benefit both Utah football and themselves. The trucks will be leased to each of the 85 scholarship players for a six-month period that could be longer depending on their eligibility and continued enrollment at Utah.

If you are a Utah football player, it is hard to imagine a better NIL deal than this. Getting a new Ram truck and its insurance paid for is quite the bargain for most 18-23 year olds no matter if they play football or not.
