Utah Legend Alex Smith Makes History With College Football Hall of Fame Induction

On Sunday, former Utah star quarterback Alex Smith was announced as a member of the 2024 College Football Hall of Fame class.

His entry marks the first Utah player in program history to be inducted, as he joins former head coach Ike Armstrong as the only two Utes in the hall of fame. Armstrong was inducted back in 1957 for his success.

As for Smith, he has multiple records that are still standing despite his last game as a Ute being played in 2005. He still holds the record for single-season touchdown passes with 32, and his total touchdowns in a season with 42.

His best season saw him earn a first-team All-American nod, while being named as a Heisman Trophy Finalist. He capped off his Utah career with a Fiesta Bowl win over Pitt that saw him named MVP. Before departing for the NFL in which was the No. 1 overall pick,  Smith finished his career as a Ute with 5,203 passing yards, and 47 touchdowns, while also rushing for 1,072 rushing yards, and 15 touchdowns.
