Over the weekend, two of college football's future star quarterbacks were chosen as 2023 co-recipients of the 2023 Polynesian High School Football Player of the Year Award.

Utah signee Isaac Wilson and Nebraska signee Dylan Raila were both honored with the award, which is given out every year to the most outstanding senior high school football player or in this case players, who come have Polynesian Ancestry. The two started opposite of each other in the recent Polynesian Bowl, which saw the Raiola-led Team Mauka win despite trailing 17-0 at halftime.

The two are both native Hawaiian and join notable names such as DJ Uiagalelei (Florida State), Puka Nakua (LA Rams), and Nico Iamaleava (Tennessee) among other notable players to have won the award.

Isaac Wilson

This past season for Wilson was as good as it gets at the high school ranks, as he led the Corner Canyon Chargers to a 13-1 record and a state title. He ended up throwing for over 4,500 yards with 49 touchdowns to just nine interceptions. Wilson also rushed for over 1,300 yards and added 13 touchdowns to his season total.

His strong performance earned him Utah Gatorade Player of the Year, MaxPreps Player of the Year for the state of Utah, and he was also one of the finalists for MaxPreps Player of the Year.

Wilson is expected to come and contend for the No. 2 role behind Cam Rising who is returning for a seventh season in 2024.
