WATCH: Alex Smith raves about Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham

The former Utah quarterback is very proud of where his former program has gone

Utah's football program has been one of the most consistent programs in the country for nearly the last two decades.

Former Utah quarterback Alex Smith was recently asked about the job that head coach Kyle Whittingham has done at Utah, and had nothing but positive things to say. Smith cited Whittingham's passion and the connection he is able to build with his players as a major reason why he is so special.

Smith, who was 21-1 as the starting quarterback through two seasons led the Utes to victories in the Liberty Bowl and the Fiesta Bowl. He finished fourth in Heisman voting in 2004, and was able to parlay his success into being selected as the No. 1 overall pick of the 2005 NFL Draft.

Even though his time playing at Utah is well past him, he still keeps a close pulse on the program and is very excited about the direction the program continues to trend towards.
