No. 12 UVA Women's Tennis Earns Pair of Ranked ACC Wins

The No. 12 Virginia women's tennis team picked up a pair of ranked ACC wins over No. 20 Georgia Tech and No. 30 Clemson this weekend in Charlottesville. The final score of both matches was 4-3, but the Cavaliers clinched 4-0 sweeps against both teams and their opponents scored three points after the match was already decided.
Friday: No. 12 Virginia 4, No. 20 Georgia Tech 3
The Cavaliers got off to a great start in Friday's match as the doubles teams of Melodie Collard and Julia Adams as well as Elaine Chervinsky and Natasha Subhash won their matches 6-1 to clinch the doubles point with ease. Collard carried that momentum into singles play with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Kate Sharabura on court 6 and Sara Ziodato beat Rosie Garcia Gross 6-2, 6-4 on court 5 to give Virginia a 3-0 lead.
On the top court, Natasha Subhash earned perhaps her most impressive victory of the season, knocking off Georgia Tech's Carol Lee, the No. 7-ranked women's tennis player in the country, in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 to clinch the victory for Virginia. Georgia Tech got wins on courts 2, 3, and 4 after the match was decided to make the final score 4-3.
