Seven Cavalier Swimmers to Represent Team USA at 2023 Pan American Games
Seven current or former members of the Virginia swimming & diving program will represent the United States at the 2023 Pan American Games in October in Santiago, Chile. UVA will be represented by rising seniors Abby Harter, Anna Keating, and Noah Nichols, rising juniors Jack Aikins and Reilly Tiltmann, rising sophomore Emma Weber, and former Cavalier Paige Madden. Virginia assistant coach Jake Shrum will also serve on the USA Swimming coaching staff.
Paige Madden helped UVA capture its first-ever national title in her senior year in 2021, winning NCAA titles in the 200 free, 500 free, 1650 free, and 800 free relay. She earned 14 All-American selections in her illustrious Cavalier career and won 13 individual ACC titles. Madden won a silver medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics as part of Team USA's 4x200-meter freestyle relay team.
Abby Harter has earned five All-American selections in her career, including a 7th-place finish in the 200 butterfly at the 2023 NCAA Championships, helping the Cavaliers complete a three-peat. Fellow rising senior Anna Keating also recorded a 7th-place finish at the NCAA Championships, finishing 7th in the 200 breaststroke.
On the men's side, Noah Nichols has six All-American selections on his resume, including All-American honors in the 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay in 2023.
Reilly Tiltmann has 10 total NCAA All-American selections to her name, winning the NCAA title in the 400 freestyle relay in 2022 and placing 12th in the 100 backstroke and 7th in the 200 butterfly in 2023.
Jack Aikins has earned seven All-American selections in his first two seasons at UVA, including All-American honors in the 200 free relay, 400 free relay, and 400 medley relay at the 2023 NCAA Championships.
Finally, Emma Weber looks to build off of a strong freshman campaign in which she placed eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke at the NCAA Championships.
Jake Shrum was one of five coaches selected to coach the USA Swimming team.
The pool swimming events at the 2023 Pan American Games will run from October 21-25 in Santiago, Chile.
