The Virginia men's soccer team has earned the No. 7 overall seed in the 2023 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship, as revealed by the Selection Committee on Monday. UVA gets a first-round bye and will host the winner of FIU and Mercer (who play on Thursday) in the second round on Sunday at 1pm at Klockner Stadium.

Virginia is 10-3-4 overall this season. The Cavaliers ended the regular season on a four-match winning streak and haven't lost in regulation since September 22nd, a streak of nine matches. Virginia fell to Syracuse in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament in a penalty kick shootout.

Virginia was one of nine ACC teams to earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament and the ACC was responsible for six of the top 16 seeds: No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 3 North Carolina, No. 7 Virginia, No. 9 Clemson, No. 10 Wake Forest, No. 15 Duke, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Syracuse. Four of those seeded ACC teams are in the same quadrant of the bracket, with Virginia and Wake Forest set to meet in the third round if both teams advance and Notre Dame and Duke also potentially matching up in the bottom half of that region. The lower right portion of the NCAA Tournament is essentially a mini version of the ACC Tournament.

This marks Virginia's 43rd appearance in the NCAA Tournament, fourth-most in Division I. UVA is seeking its eighth national title and first since 2015.
