Virginia has reportedly scheduled its 10th, and perhaps final, non-conference opponent for the 2023-2024 college basketball season. Per reports from The D1 Docket, a site covering the releases of non-conference college basketball matchups, UVA will host North Carolina Central on December 5th at John Paul Jones Arena.

Virginia and NC Central faced each other for the first time last November in the season-opener. The Cavaliers earned a 73-61 victory in that game behind 21 points from Armaan Franklin and 10 points each from Reece Beekman, Kadin Shedrick, and Francisco Caffaro. UVA is scheduled to play two opponents from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference next season: NC Central and Morgan State (December 27th).

Here's what we know about the non-conference slate for the 2023-2024 Virginia men's basketball season so far (home games in bold):

November 10th: Virginia vs. Florida [Charlotte, NC]
November 14th: Virginia vs. North Carolina A&T
November 16th: Virginia vs. Texas Southern
November 20th: Virginia vs. Wisconsin [Fort Myers, FL]
November 22th: Virginia vs. SMU/West Virginia [Fort Myers, FL]
December 5th: Virginia vs. NC Central
December 16th: Virginia vs. Northeastern
December 19th: Virginia at Memphis
December 27th: Virginia vs. Morgan State
TBA: Virginia vs. TBD SEC opponent [ACC/SEC Challenge]

The NCAA permits college basketball teams to play 31 regular season games. For Virginia, that means 20 ACC games plus 11 non-conference games, but UVA has traditionally stuck to 30 regular season games with a 10-game non-conference slate. That means the Cavaliers could be done their non-conference schedule for the 2023-2024 season with these ten games.

With that said, the official start of the 2023-2024 college basketball season is Monday, November 6th and Virginia does not have a game scheduled for that date yet. So, it is possible that UVA could add an 11th non-conference opponent for the season-opener or the Cavaliers could start their 2023-2024 season with an ACC game, as they did with Syracuse in the 2019-2020 season.
