Each of the eight Premier Lacrosse League teams released their 30-man training camp rosters on Monday and 14 current and former Virginia men's lacrosse players were included across those rosters.

We begin with the reigning PLL Champion Waterdogs, who drafted current UVA midfielder Thomas McConvey in the first round of the PLL College Draft and claimed another current Cavalier midfielder Jeff Conner as an undrafted free agent on waivers. McConvey and Conner join fellow former Wahoo Ryan Conrad in the Waterdogs midfield, a third of which is now comprised of Virginia men's lacrosse alums. McConvey, Conner, and Conrad will look to help the Waterdogs defend their PLL title this summer.

One other PLL team has three Wahoos on its training camp roster. The two-time PLL Champions Whipsnakes already had Zed Williams, one of the top attackman in the sport, and added two more Cavaliers in the last week as they drafted faceoff specialist Petey LaSalla with the 14th overall pick in the second round of the College Draft and then claimed short-stick defensive midfielder Grayson Sallade on waivers.

Three PLL teams have two UVA lacrosse alums on their training camp rosters. The Archers have attackman Matt Moore and long-stick midfielder Jared Conners. The Redwoods have midfielder Charlie Bertrand and short-stick defensive midfielder Chris Merle. The Cannons have attackman Mark Cockerton and goalie Adam Ghitelman. The Cannons also claimed defenseman Cade Saustad on waivers, but Saustad has been placed on the "holdout list" and is not expected to play in the PLL this summer.

Current Virginia short-stick defensive midfielder Evan Zinn was claimed by the Chaos and is on their 30-man training camp roster. The PLL training camp begins on Friday, May 26th in Albany and each club will have to cut five players and finalize a 25-man roster by May 30th. Then, each team will release its 19-man gameday roster, which can vary from week to week, on May 31st.

The Atlas Lacrosse Club selected UVA attackman Xander Dickson, who on Saturday broke the Virginia single-season scoring record, with the 11th overall pick in the PLL College Draft. Dox Aitken is also on the Atlas roster, but he has been placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list as he received an invite to participate in the New England Patriots' rookie minicamp. A former standout high school football player, Aitken briefly transferred from Virginia to Villanova during his senior season to play football, but ended up returning to UVA after the Wildcats cancelled their season due to COVID-19. Aitken is expected to try out as a wide receiver for legendary head coach and big-time lacrosse supporter Bill Belichick. This wouldn't be the first time that the Patriots had an ex-lacrosse player on their roster, as former Penn State lacrosse player Chris Hogan made a successful NFL career for himself and won two Super Bowls as a wide receiver with New England. Now, Dox Aitken, a two-time national champion and UVA's all-time midfield scoring leader, looks to do the same as he tries to earn a spot in the National Football League.
