Year 2 of the Coach Mox era of the Virginia women's basketball program will see the Cavaliers tested with an immensely-challenging early-season showdown against the defending national champions. The matchups for the inaugural Cayman Islands Classic were revealed on Tuesday and Virginia will face Tulane on November 24th and reigning national champs LSU on November 25th.

Virginia will play Tulane in the first game of the event, which will take place at 11am Eastern on November 24th at John Gray Gymnasium in George Town, Cayman Islands. The Green Wave went 18-14 last season and made a third-consecutive appearance in the WNIT.

The following day, Virginia will take on LSU at 5pm, as Coach Mox and the Cavaliers get a crack at Kim Mulkey's Tigers. LSU took down Virginia Tech in the Final Four and then beat Iowa to capture the 2023 National Championship in the most-watched women's college basketball game of all time. The Tigers will be among the best teams in the nation this season, as they return Angel Reese and several key contributors from last year's squad and add Louisville transfer Hailey Van Lith.

The inaugural Cayman Islands Classic features several top women's basketball programs, including 2023 NCAA National Champions LSU, 2023 NIT Champions Kansas, 2023 ACC Tournament Champions Virginia Tech, and 11-time NCAA National Champion UConn. The full tournament field is UConn, LSU, Virginia Tech, Kansas, Virginia, UCLA, Niagara, and Tulane.
