Naz Carter and Hameir Wright, both juniors, are the much-needed veterans, the calming influence, for the Washington basketball team. They know that.

While a pair of 5-star recruits and a Kentucky transfer have helped change the face of Husky hoops this season, it's up to holdovers Carter and Wright to lead by example and set the tone when things get tough.

That's what happened in the home opener against stubborn Mount St. Mary's. It was Wright who hit the go-ahead 3-pointer and Carter who slammed home a resounding dunk in the UW's 56-46 victory.

Next up for the 20th-ranked Huskies (2-0) is a nationally televised game against Tennessee in the Naismith Hall of Fame Classic on Saturday in Toronto.

In this video, Carter and Wright talk a little about that veteran role that's been thrust on them.
