Washington Huskies vs Oregon Ducks - LIVE Game Thread/Blog from Husky Stadium

The #12 Oregon Ducks take on the #25 Washington Huskies at 12:30 in Husky Stadium today. We will be following the game here on the Sports Illustrated Husky Maven site. All comments are welcome below.

It’s currently 46 degrees and overcast in Seattle. The crowd is SURPRISINGLY light as the teams take the field. There was just an US Air Force flyover that rocked the stadium however.

12:30 Kickoff

Washington wins the coin flip and defers. Oregon will take the ball on offense.

1st Quarter

The Ducks take their opening drive 75 yards down the field and strike first with a Justin Herbert TD pass. Extra point is good. Ducks up 7-0 with 9:44 left in the first quarter.

Trick play for the Dawgs on the ensuing kickoff. Aaron Fuller throws the ball back to Chico McClatcher who takes the ball to mid field. The play was call back for unsportsmanlike conduct ON McClatcher for laying down in the end zone.

Washington Huskies strike back with a 13 play drive topped off by a 9 yard TD run by Salvon Ahmed. Peyton Henry’s extra point is good. 7-7 game with :20 left in the first. 

End of the first quarter. Washington 7  Oregon 7.

A physical, knock down drag out game as promised so far. Washington Husky Legend Jacques Robinson was announced as the newest Washington Husky Hall of Fame inductee. FYI, Jacques is the father of NBA ALL star Nate Robinson.

2nd Quarter

Huskies strike big time! Jacob Eason passes 48 yards to Jordan Chin for a Husky TD. 4 play 73 yard drive. 14-7 Dawgs with 12:48 left in the half.

Just FYI - It’s LOUD in Husky Stadium.

Noticeably missing from action is WR Aaron Fuller at the 7 minute mark of the 2nd Quarter. He was in for the opening kickoff and I have not seen him in the game since then. I see him on the sideline without a helmet so there may be an injury. We will update as we find out more.

Oregon fires back with a 16 yard TD pass from Herbert to Jaylon Redd. Scored tied up at 14 with 2:59 seconds left in the half.

The 2 minute drill executed to perfection by Jacob Eason and the Husky offense. Andre Baccellia with the 5 yard TD catch and run. Huskies up 21-14 with 58 seconds to go in the half.

End of the first half. Huskies 21  Ducks 14.

First half stats:

Jacob Eason: 15 of 19 passing. 168 yards. 2 TDS

Salvon Ahmed: 13 carries. 77 yards. 1 TD

Hunter Bryant: 3 catches. 65 yards.

3rd Quarter

Huskies take the kick to start the half. Chico McClatcher returns it 24 yards to the Washington 26

With 13:16 still left in the quarter Eason throws 33 yards to Puka Nacua for the TD. Kick is good and the Huskies are up 28-14. A 4 play 74 yard drive for the Dawgs.

Oregon responds to the Husky TD  with a long 9 play, 65 yard drive topped off by a 13 yard touchdown run Cyrus Habibi-Likio. Husky lead 28-21 with 8:36 left in the 3rd quarter.

10 plays and 53 yards for the Huskies ends with 3 pts. Peyton Henry is still perfect on the season, with a 30 yard FG. Huskies go up 31-21 with 3:39 left in the 3rd 

As the clock expires on the 3rd quarter, the Ducks score after a 10 play, 75 yard drive. Herbert to Mycah Pittman for 36 yards. Huskies 31-28.

4th Quarter

With 5:10 left in the contest, the Ducks drive 70 yards to take their first lead since the first quarter. Jaylon Redd with the 5 yard catch and run. Ducks up 35-31.

The Huskies try attempt to seal the game with a 2 minute drive ends in failure on 4th and 4 from the Husky 34 yard line. With 54 seconds on the clock, this one is done.
