College football players receive only so many chances to get on the field, earn playing time and land a starting position.

Edefuan Ulofoshio and Jacob Sirmon, a pair of Huskies redshirt freshmen inside linebackers, took advantage of their opportunities at Oregon State, according to defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake.

The two young guys pulled a majority of the plays at the inside slots in the UW's 19-7 victory in Corvallis.

They studied their roles coming in and played physical against the Beavers, Lake said.

The defensive coordinator also shared a memorable anecdote about Ulofoshio and his dedication to his craft.

As redshirt freshmen, Ulofoshio and Sirmon aren't permitted to do interviews. The Huskies adhere to an arcane rule of not letting freshmen or redshirt freshmen engage with the media, no matter how much they play.

So it's left to Lake and others to provide insight on these up-and-comers. Check out the video.
