Huskies Eye Another Eastside Catholic Playmaker on the Edge

Two years after JT Tuimoloau, here comes Wassie Lugolobi.

Wassie Lugolobi plays football like a man among boys. Reality is, he's still a boy.

For Eastside Catholic High School's football powerhouse, the 6-foot-2, 215-pound Lugolobi started at linebacker as a mere freshman.

For a 12-1 Crusaders team that finished as the state 3A runner-up, he came off the edge and created all sorts of problems for the opposition in a mature fashion.

Can anyone say JT Tuimoloau?

Similar to that 5-star Eastside terror who took his game to Ohio State and the Big Ten spotlight, Lugolobi came ready to play and make plays almost immediately after becoming a high school player in Seattle's East suburbs.

On Saturday, the University of Washington football program did what it did with Tuimoloau — it offered Lugolobi a scholarship, the fourth for this class of 2026 prospect following full rides from Louisville, Colorado and Nevada.

The added challenge for the Huskies now is to pull off what they couldn't do with the Buckeyes-bound game-wrecker — sign Lugolobi.

Lugolobi was all over the field as this precocious ninth-grader who wore No. 80, an interesting jersey choice.

In the playoffs, he scooped up a fumble against Spanaway Lake in the playoffs and ran 25 yards with it for a touchdown.

In another outing, he blocked a put that resulted in a Crusaders touchdown.

In the state championship game against Yelm, Lugolobi came up with an end zone interception to blunt a drive in Eastside's tough 28-27 loss.

Yet Lugolobi has three more high school seasons to see what he can do and see how many scholarship offers he can generate. It should be a lot.
