Washington Offers Huge La Jolla OT

Jett Thomas is taking off in the summer before his junior season

As recruiting continues to heat up for Washington, it appears La Jolla High School prospect Jett Thomas is also prepared for takeoff (pun intended). The 6-foot-4, 300-pound offensive lineman started off his summer with an offer from Arizona State and has continued rising ever since.

Thomas now has six offers, including Arizona and Washington along with Northern Arizona, Colorado State and San Diego State. He plays both tackle and guard for his high school and looks like he has the skill set to play either position at the next level.

Offensive line coach Scott Huff seems to have a type when he's scouting. He loves large, projectable players, which Thomas certainly is, but the first thing he looks for on film is what NFL scouts call a nasty streak.

Thomas certainly plays with it. While he doesn't necessarily finish a ton of blocks with authority, he's still only a sophomore and it's easy to see him doing more of that as he adds strength to his frame.

While he's an impressive blocker coming downhill in the run game, where Thomas really sets himself apart from other recruits is as a pass blocker. Most high school offensive linemen don't get a lot of experience in pass sets, but Thomas certainly has made the most of those snaps.

He has a smooth kick slide on film and almost looks like he's gliding across from the defensive end in his face. Thomas' footwork is going to help him pick up a lot more offers before he ends up making his college decision.

Thomas will probably end up playing guard at the college level, but between his footwork and ability to get out and run in open space, he looks like a high three-star player who could make an impact early on in his college career.
