After 3: West Virginia Leads Pitt 4-0

Morgantown, WV - The West Virginia Mountaineers (33-11) are in the comfortable confines of Monongalia County Ballpark battling the Pitt Panthers (20-21) in the second game of the Backyard Brawl.
West Virginia freshman starting pitcher Carson Estridge began the game with a pair of strikeouts before Pitt beat the shift for consecutive base hits, but Estridge got out of the jam, registering this third strikeout of the inning.
J.J. Wetherholt upped his hitting streak to 10 games with a line drive to right field. He stole second, and the throw skipped into centerfield, giving Wetherholt third. Then, Landon Wallace delivered an RBI single for the early 1-0 Mountaineer advantage.
Estridge retired the side in the second, recording strikeouts five and six, then Caleb McNeely lined a solo home run over left field in the bottom half of the inning to extend the Mountaineers lead, 2-0.
A 1-2-3 inning for Estridge while Mountaineer bats added a pair of runs in the third. Tevin Tucker worked a leadoff walk, Wetherholt ripped his second single of the evening before Landon Wallace grabbed his second RBI of the night with a base hit and Braden Barry brought the second run of the inning in with a sacrifice ground ball as the Mountaineers took a 4-0 advantage.
