Reed Earns a Spot on the Stopper of the Year Watch List

On Monday, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) added West Virginia University reliever Carlson Reed to its Stopper of the Year Watch List.
Reed began the season in the starting rotation but found his role coming out of the bullpen and has been a consistent closer for the Mountaineers. In 18 appearances this season, he is 2-0 with a 1.00 ERA, five saves and 42 strikeouts in 27 innings of work.
The Marietta, Georgia, native tied a career six strikeouts, a mark he set his freshman year against Pitt, with a three-inning save in the series opening win at Oklahoma State. He also notched five strikeouts in midweek matchups versus Marshall and Hofstra.
Reed and the Mountaineers will be back in action Wednesday night in the second game of a three-game season series of the Backyard Brawl with the first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. and streaming on ESPN+.
