Leddie Brown Wins Mountaineer Maven's Tavon Austin Award

The award comes back to the offensive side of the ball after going to Darius Stills in 2019.

At the conclusion of each football season, the staff at Mountaineer Maven recognizes the best players on West Virginia's roster by handing out 11 different awards. The winners of the 5th Annual Mountaineer Maven Awards will be announced throughout the week.

This 5th winner of the Mountaineer Maven Tavon Austin Award (Most electrifying/entertaining player to watch) goes to junior running back Leddie Brown.

Sure, the days of the Air Raid offense and slinging the ball all over the yard were fun to watch, but there's noting like old-school football. With a running back like Leddie Brown, Neal Brown is able to play smashmouth football.

He is a tough back to tackle and can beat you in a variety of ways. He can run around you, by you, or through you, making him one of the best backs in the entire country. Brown finished the season with 1,010 yards (14th in the country) and nine touchdowns. In five of West Virginia's 10 games, Brown ran for over 100 yards and had three games where he had two rushing touchdowns.

He might not have the flash that some of the previous winners of this award have but he gets the job done and was by far the most entertaining player to watch this fall for the Mountaineers.
