Rasheed Marshall Hired to WVU Football Staff

A WVU great gets an opportunity to help the program out full-time.

Monday afternoon, West Virginia head football coach Neal Brown announced a new addition to his staff, former Mountaineer QB Rasheed Marshall.

"We've hired him in a full-time role as the Director of Player Relations. Great player here, obviously. Big East Player of the Year as a quarterback and fifth-round draft pick. Got to know him over the last four years and he's been involved in different aspects of our Fifth Quarter Program. [He's] been around our guys and done media some things as well. When the job opened up, he expressed interest. I'm excited. He's not only been a great player here. He's done really well professionally. He wanted to be a part of the program. He loves West Virginia. And he's really passionate about developing young people."

Marshall played at WVU from 2001-04 and as Neal mentioned in his statement, was named the Big East Player of the Year as a senior in '04. That season, Marshall completed 102-of-171 pass attempts for 1,426 yards, 16 touchdowns, and six interceptions and also ran for 684 yards and four scores on 130 carries.

"He's really the liaison of our players and our support staff. He's the liaison between housing and admissions. He works directly with several pieces on campus. And then he's here for our players. He's going to work a lot with our Fifth Quarter Program, preparing them for life after football."
