This afternoon, the Big 12 conference announced that West Virginia wide receiver Sam James was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week.

James collected 14 receptions for 223 yards in the Mountaineers 38-17 loss to Texas Tech.

The game plan, as always, is to get the ball into James’ hands and get him out in space. Although he had a big day statistically, James left at least three to four more catches on the field and another 50 plus yards due to drops. The entire West Virginia receiving corps has had a case of the drops nearly all year, but once James gets better hands, look out.

James has all the tools to become a star receiver, but will needs to develop some aspects of his game over the offseason.
