Best Virgina (West Virginia alumni) takes on Herd That (Marshall Alumni) Thursday night inside WesBanco Arena with tipoff set for 7:00 and the action will stream on ESPN+.

Roby Gray led all scorers with 27 points in Herd That's 86-71 opening round win over the Zoo Crew (Pitt Alumni) while Jon Elmore and Derek Cooke Jr. chipped in 13 apiece.

Herd That opened the game with a 13-0 nothing run and never trailed in the game. However, twice Zoo Crew was able to get within striking distance, even cutting the deficit to four with six minutes remaining but three consecutive empty possessions closed the door on the comeback.

“Herd That; very good,” said Best Virginia head coach James Long. “They’ve added a couple pieces that change it. I’d say talent wise, they’re as good as anyone in this region. That’s not even an argument. Rob Gray won a Euro Cup with Monaco. John Elmore is incredible, as we all know. Jacorey Williams averaged 18 [points] and eight [rebounds] - first league in Italy. [James] Kelly was a problem last year. You got JP Tokoto playing for Tel Aviv…They have a team.”

Best Virginia gutted out a 70-68 win over Dream Dubois in first round. Turnovers plagued the Mountaineers, totaling 16 in the evening but got the crucial stop at the end to seal the victory.

Kevin Jones' 22 points and 12 rebounds led Best Virginia and Erik Stevenson buried the game winning three to top off a 16-point and 11 rebound performance.

Best Virginia handled Herd That last year in the TBT at the Charleston Coliseum 89-79 with Kevin Jones and John Flowers both leading the team in scoring with 17 points.
