Mazzulla's Celtics Set Another Record, Push Win Streak to 11

Boston makes a statement in a blowout win over the Golden State Warriors.

West Virginia basketball's own, Joe Mazzulla, continues to win games at a record-breaking pace with the Boston Celtics and on Sunday night, he had a part in making history.

At halftime, Boston had an 82-38 lead over the Golden State Warriors, marking the largest halftime lead in franchise history.

The Celtics could have went to the bench early in the second half but Mazzulla wanted to see his starters come out and play with intensity to put the finishing touches on a well-rounded performance and they did exactly that.

"I think it's the team's discipline, their mindset, and their togetherness. One of the most impressive things of our team is we won the start of the third quarter, 17-10. That's really important... to be in situations when you have a chance to have a letdown and you win by seven and that's why they stayed out there. It was very important that we won that first segment of the third quarter, but it's just that. It's just continuing to stay disciplined, not taking bad shots, not turning the ball over, not quitting on plays, not giving up rebounds, not getting back in transition. I thought every player that went into the game tonight played with a high level of physicality and detail."

Boston went on to defeat Golden State 140-88 - their largest margin of victory this season. The Celtics also own three of the five biggest five wins in the NBA this season. With the victory, it pushes Boston's win streak to 11 and gives them an 8.5-game lead over the 2nd place Milwaukee Bucks.
