Seattle quarterback Geno Smith went 23-36 for 296 yards and a touchdown to help guide the Seahawks to a 37-27 win over the Carolina Panthers Sunday evening.

The Seattle offense settled for four field goals in the first half and trailed 13-12 at the break. Smith was 11-23 for 153 yards and an interception that set up one of two Carolina field goals in the first half.

The Seahawks drove the ball down the field on their opening possession of the second half, using the short passing game, Smith was 5-5 for 42 yards. However, after a successful direct snap to running back DJ Dallas in the wildcat formation, Seattle opted to run the play again and it resulted in a one-yard loss and again the Seahawks ended the drive with another field goal for the 15-13 lead.

The Panthers grabbed a 20-15 lead after Andy Dalton led the offense on a nine-play 75-yard touchdown drive.

Smith and the Seahawks offense responded on the following possession. Smith hit consecutive passes to tight ends Colby Parkinson and Noah Fant for a combined 30 yards. Then, the running game finished the drive with Zach Charbonnet, racking up 25 yards on three-straight carries before Kenneth Walker III carried it into the endzone from seven yards out and Seattle regained the lead 29-20.

The Seattle defense gave the ball back to the offense at the Carolina 27-yard line after sacking Dalton on fourth and seven.

After a Charbonnet 12-yard run, placing the ball inside the five, Smith hit Jake Bobo in the back of the endzone for the five-yard touchdown pass. Seattle opted to go for two to extend the lead to seventeen and Smith eluded a sack and tossed it up to Tyler Lockett and he fought off the defender for the two points as Seattle took a 37-20 lead.
