Wisconsin Volleyball Triumph

The #2-ranked Wisconsin Volleyball team showcased resilience after conceding one set, finally overpowering Purdue in a thrilling four-set match at the UW Field House.

Early Momentum and Mid-Game Recovery

With the stage set for an electrifying night, the Badgers (21-1, 12-1) seized an early advantage, taking the first set. A pivotal 6-0 run, emphasized by two service aces from Gulce Guctekin, shifted the momentum away from the Boilermakers. However, the team faced a setback in the second set, giving Purdue the opportunity to level the match.

Regaining their form, Wisconsin surged in the third set, going on a game-changing 6-1 run, eventually clinching the set 25-18. The fourth set witnessed another dominant display, with the Badgers establishing an 11-3 lead and maintaining it to round off the match. The sets finished at 25-14, 16-25, 25-18, and 25-14 for a 3-1 win.

Sarah Franklin was undeniably the player of the night. This marked her eighth consecutive match with double-figure kills, boasting 22 kills on the night. Other significant contributions included Carter Booth with nine kills and both Anna Smrek and Devyn Robinson delivering eight kills apiece.

Wisconsin's defense proved pivotal, achieving a hit rate of .302 against Purdue's .163. Izzy Ashburn showcased her skills with 27 assists, complemented by MJ Hammill's 17. Furthermore, the Badgers continued their pattern of superior blocking, registering 11.0 team blocks compared to Purdue's 8.0. Carter Booth was on fire with 5 blocks.
