Mortal Kombat 1 Leak Points to Single Player Mode, Including Possible Battle Pass

Mortal Kombat 1 is coming but a lot of its content is still a mystery. This hasn’t deterred fans from digging around for leaks, clues, and files, of course. The most recent leak points at a single player mode coming to the fighting game.

On Reddit, a Mortal Kombat fan shared a screenshot of the back of the alleged Mortal Kombat 1 case, which had some interesting new information. According to the fighting game player, pre-orders of physical copies went live in Brazil and the case was revealed. This included the back of the case, which highlighted some of the game’s features.

One of the areas on the back of the case said “Invasions.” This is allegedly a game mode replacing the Kyrpt. A translation reads: “Travel through the realms of Mortal Kombat, facing invasions of each season in an all-new single player experience.”

If the screenshot and its accompanied translations are to be believed, Mortal Kombat 1 will include a single-player mode called Invasions.

Some FGC members noted that it seemed like a “map mode.” This is a nickname for game modes that are similar to Super Smash Bros’ World of Light or Soul Calibur 3’s Chronicles of the Sword. This mode blended the usual fighting game arcade mode — where you fight through a set cast of characters — with a simple RPG.

A lot of players were excited to see that Mortal Kombat 1 was getting more single player opportunities, especially ones that may be similar to the ones they enjoyed as a kid. But there were some concerns with the translation.

Is Mortal Kombat 1 Getting a Battle Pass?

Previously, Ed Boon stated that Mortal Kombat 1 would not have a battle pass, with NetherRealm shunning the live service model. But the recent leak of Invasion mode mentioned something about seasonal progression, confusing and concerning the FGC.

A lot of Mortal Kombat 1 fans started speculating about the translation, wondering how accurate it was and what it truly meant in regards to loot boxes and battle passes. Most players agreed that after paying $70 for the game, they were not going to pay for a battle pass.
