Megan Fox To Voice Mortal Kombat 1's Nitara

Megan Fox channels Jennifer's Body energy to embody the deadly, vampiric Nitara in Mortal Kombat 1

While SAG-AFTRA mulls over a potential strike for video game voice actors, Mortal Kombat 1 is announcing a well-known actor playing voicing one of their characters. Meghan Fox, known for the Transformers series of films and horror comedy Jennifer’s Body, is playing Nitara in the upcoming game. The trailer continues to confirm leaks from the spring which revealed much of the launch day roster.
In terms of the game, Nitara is a vampire of sorts that attacks viciously with her claw-like nails and sharp fangs.

The character is a deep cut for MK fans, as Nitara’s last playable appearance in the series was in MK Armageddon back in 2006. Fox says that playing Nitara “resonates for some reason” with her, surely a reference to her horror film experience. The game even drops a nod to that lineage during pre-match with Kung Lao asking Nitara “what did you do with Jen’s body?”. Because of her winged form, Nitara looks to be adept at airborne combat. Many of the combos shown off in the trailer have her knocking other fighters into the air and keeping them afloat with additional hits.

As far as the story goes, Fox says that Nitara is both “kind of good and evil” and is “trying to save her people”. Perhaps in MK1’s reality vampires are dwindling in numbers. She also seems to be pitted against Ashara who’s position as a demon turned good might fly directly in the face of Nitara’s more gruesome methods. During story cutscenes she’s seen sucking the blood of her victims and screeching about as she battles Smoke.

“We did all grow up playing the game [Mortal Kombat] and it is one of the greatest games of all time.”, says Fox. Mortal Kombat 1 is set to release on September 14th with Fox’s Nitara playable on day one.
