The Amazon Prime TV Show based on the popular Fallout Series by Bethesda Game Studios was originally announced in July of 2020. Since then fans have eagerly been awaiting additional details, including a release date. Thankfully, they won’t have to wait much longer for the Streaming Series to drop. The release date for the Fallout Series on Amazon Prime is on April 12, 2024.

The Legacy of the Fallout Video Games

Bethesda Game Studios Fallout series is one of the most well known video game franchises in history. The first of the Fallout Video Games came out way back in September of 1997. The first two games were top down role-playing games, but the series really took off with the release of Fallout 3 that changed to a first person perspective.

Fallout is best known for two things; it’s unique 1950’s flavored aesthetics and its post-apocalyptic setting. All Fallout games start with atomic bombs being dropped all over the world and wiping out a vast majority of civilization. The story then focuses on a singular. nameless protagonist who wanders the new wastes of whatever area of the United States they’re in helping whoever they come across (or just helping themselves.)

Another major aspect of the Fallout Series is the company known as Vault Tech. This dystopian corporation created several fallout shelters known as vaults all around the world and are part of the reason that so many people who exist in the Fallout world survived. Of course there are other survivors as well including Super Mutants, Ghouls and other random lucky (or unlucky?) humans.

What Do We Know of the Fallout TV Series?

The Fallout Video Games have taken place in iconic locations around the United States such as Las Vegas, Washington DC and West Virginia. The Amazon Prime Fallout Series will take place in Los Angeles, roughly around the same time period as the video games have. That means the story could take place anywhere from 25 to 200 years after the bombs have fallen.

The Fallout TV Series will be headed up by Lisa Joy and Jonathon Nolan who are most recently known for their work on the series Westworld on HBO’s Max. They will be writing and producing the series for Amazon Prime. Other members of the team include; Athena Wickham (Executive Producer, Westworld), Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Writer, Captain Marvel) and Graham Wagner (Writer\Executive Producer, Portlandia).

Who is In the Amazon Prime Fallout TV Series?

Finally, who can fans expect to see in the post-apocalyptic wastelands of the Amazon Prime Fallout TV Series? Some of the confirmed actors, whose roles have not yet been revealed include the following.

Dave Register (Heightened), Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets), Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks), Frances Turner (The Boys), Leslie Uggams (Deadpool), Michael Emerson (Person of Interest), Sarita Choudhury (Homeland), Walton Goggins (Justified), Xelia Mendes-Jones (The Wheel of Time) and Zach Cherry (Severance).

We do know that a group of actors have been announced with roles attached to their names, but the names mean nothing currently as they have no notable connection to the current Fallout Video Game canon. They include Aaron Moten (Emancipation) as Maximus, Annabel O’Hagan (Law & Order: SVU) as Steph, Johnny Pemberton (21 Jump Street) as Thaddeus, Moisés Arias (The King of Staten Island) as Norm and Rodrigo Luzzi (Dead Ringers) as Reg.
