Overwatch 2 Error BN-043 — What Causes It and How to Fix
It’s baaack. Overwatch 2 players are, once again, dealing with Error BN-043.
Error BN-043 is nothing new to Overwatch 2 players, unfortunately. This annoying bug has continued to pop up time and time again, and players are wondering what they can do to get rid of it for good.
The BN-043 error doesn’t allow you to even load into the game, making it very obnoxious. Here’s what you can do while we wait for developers to officially squash this bug.
How to Fix Overwatch 2 Error BN-043
The BN-043 error is usually a response to a maintenance or server issue, hence why it stops you from loading into games. You might also notice it popping up due to connectivity issues with the local network you’re playing on.
No matter what is causing the problem, here are some quick fixes to try:
- Restart Overwatch 2 along with Battle.net
- Then, restart your internet connection
- Change your region in Battle.net if you notice that your region’s server is down
You should also check to see if Blizzard has any updates on server issues, which can usually be found live-tweeted on Twitter.
If Error BN-043 pops up again after doing the above three things, you may need to submit a support ticket on Blizzard’s site. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like developers are currently publicly acknowledging this bug and have not made any announcements regarding a fix.
How to Know if Overwatch 2 Servers are Down
It may not be you — it may be Blizzard. Sometimes Overwatch 2’s servers are down, whether it’s for maintenance, an update, or for an ongoing problem.
If you suspect servers are down, check out Down Detector or another third-party site that tracks server statuses. You will see an increase in reports if Overwatch 2 is having an issue, possibly in specific regions.
Then head to Blizzard’s support forum to see if developers have any updates on server issues. If there’s a known issue that’s impacting tons of players, you’ll see developers talking about the server problem there.
