World of Warcraft Classic Announces at Blizzcon 2023 include Cataclysm and Season of Discovery

  • The next chapter of World of Warcraft Classic will be Cataclysm.
  • A new World of Warcraft Classic experience called Season of Discovery will launch on November 30th.
  • Season of Discovery will have no public testing so that the player base can all experience at once together.

Fans of the World of Warcraft Classic experience were treated to a few surprises at Blizzcon 2023. The next chapter of the Classic story will unfold just as fans expected it too with World of Warcraft Classic: Cataclysm, though some changes will be made from the original. Along with that, fans can look forward to discovering something new in Season of Discovery.

Classic update to Cataclysm

World of Warcraft Classic: Cataclysm

Deathwing has awoken and taken to the skies once more and players will soon be able to relive the story of his Cataclysm around Azeroth.

World of Warcraft Classic: Cataclysm is currently planned to launch in the first half of 2024, but players should expect a few changes from the original expansion. Player feedback was taken into account for this next arc of the Classic journey.

World of Warcraft Classic: Season of Discovery

This new experience for World of Warcraft Classic, Season of Discovery will be released on November 30th. There isn’t a whole lot that is known about it and unlike most World of Warcraft content it will not be available on a public test realm.

Blizzard wants everyone in World of Warcraft Classic to experience Season of Discovery at the same time. But the content includes a search and content that will lead to Class Altering Abilities. The Developers teased the idea of a Tanking Warlock or a Mage Healer.

The Season of Discovery will launch with an initial level cap of 25, which will feature its own end game content. This end game will feature a brand new, 10-player Blackfathom Deeps Raid with new and reimagined bosses, mechanics and rewards.
